Using Graphic Oral History Texts to Operationalize the TEIL Paradigm and Multimodality in the Malaysian English Language Classroom

چکیده

The adoption of commercial language-teaching materials produced in the United Kingdom, or States, is a common practice English language teaching (ELT) worldwide. This due to wide perception British and American as standard, favorable models language. practice, however, does not support increasing urgent shift an international (TEIL) paradigm, it further perpetuates hegemony these Western countries over market ELT materials. In this paper, we seek only problematize global but also propose conceptual model for composing effective local Malaysian classroom. doing so, refer relevant literature previous research. proposed embraces TEIL paradigm well multimodality executes them by utilizing oral history graphic novel two powerful pedagogical tools. By combining pedagogies, accentuates acknowledged value both results local-context culture-based texts that are consistent with current nature being visual multimodal. Furthermore, paper showcases some samples composed teachers student projects.
